Privacy Policy for OrbitSelf

OrbitSelf (the “App”) is operated by Eugenio Keller Puente (freelancer, Spain). What you tell OrbitSelf is personal, so the App was designed to keep it on your devices and to send as little as possible anywhere else. This Privacy Policy explains what the App handles, where it goes, and your rights under applicable laws (including the GDPR).

1. Who is the Data Controller?

2. What Stays on Your Devices

  • Your universe: the people you add (name, relationship, optional photo), what you tell about them, topics, steps, journal entries, summaries and doodles are stored on your iPhone.
  • iCloud (optional, on by default): this data is copied to your private iCloud account using end-to-end encryption, so only your own devices can read it. The developer has no access to it. You can turn this off in the App's Settings.
  • Your code and privacy settings are stored only on the device and are never synced.

3. What Is Sent to Generate Ideas (AI)

When you tell something or ask for ideas, a summary, or help preparing a conversation, the App sends the text needed for that answer (for example, what you told, the names and relationships of the people involved and your open topics) to the App's server, which forwards it to OpenAI to generate the response.

  • The App's server is hosted by Supabase in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). It does not store what you tell. It only keeps usage records: an anonymous identifier, which feature was used, the number of tokens, the cost, the time taken and any error, to limit usage and control costs. These records are kept for up to 24 months.
  • OpenAI processes the text to produce the answer under its API data policy: data sent through the API is not used to train its models and may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. See OpenAI's API data usage policy.
  • What you tell may include information about your health or feelings. It is processed only to give you the answer you asked for, based on your explicit consent when you send it. Please avoid including information you don't want processed.

4. Anonymous Account, Free Trial and Purchases

  • No sign-up: the first time you use the AI, the App creates a random anonymous identifier, stored in your device's Keychain. No email, name or phone number is ever requested.
  • Free trial: the server counts how many free ideas each anonymous identifier has used. To stop the trial from restarting by reinstalling, the App uses Apple's DeviceCheck, which stores two bits for your device at Apple (for example, “half the trial used”). It contains no personal information.
  • Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. The developer never receives your payment details. To unlock the AI, the App sends Apple's signed receipt of the purchase to the server, which verifies it and keeps the transaction identifier linked to the anonymous identifier. Refunds are handled by Apple: Apple Support.

5. Device Permissions

  • Microphone and speech recognition: used only while you hold the record button, to turn your voice into text. Apple's speech recognition may process it on the device or on Apple's servers, under Apple's privacy policy. Audio is not stored by the App.
  • Photos: only the photos you choose are copied into the App (for your own picture or a person's). The App has no access to the rest of your library.
  • Face ID: handled entirely by iOS. The App never receives biometric data.
  • Notifications: the weekly “Is this still weighing on you?” reminder is created on your device. It never contains names or details.

6. What the App Does Not Do

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of data, and no advertising identifiers.

7. Children & Age

OrbitSelf is not directed at children under 16. It does not knowingly process data from anyone under that age.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

You can access, correct or delete your data at any time from the App itself. To delete everything, delete the App and remove its iCloud data (iPhone Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > OrbitSelf). Because the server only knows an anonymous identifier, it cannot link usage records to you; if you want them removed, write to contact@kubographics.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Spain, this is the AEPD (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
